The entity responsible for personal information collected through this website is Blue Dot Productions Pty Ltd, ABN 65 685 281 145. In this policy, “Blue Dot Production”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that entity.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy law and the practices described in this policy.

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Information about your proposed film, documentary, music video, trailer or other production, including its stage, support needs, target date, approximate budget and links you provide
• Messages, correspondence and information shared during an enquiry, quote or project discussion
• Records relating to quotes, services, payments and our business relationship if you become a client
• Technical information such as your IP address, browser, device type, referring page, pages visited, approximate location, security results and cookie preferences
• Website analytics and interaction data, but only when you have allowed analytics
• Information generated when you view embedded Vimeo media, subject to Vimeo’s settings and privacy practices

Please do not include sensitive personal information or confidential third-party material in an initial enquiry unless it is genuinely necessary and you are authorised to provide it.

We may collect personal information directly from you through the enquiry form, email, telephone or project discussions; from an authorised colleague, representative or referral source; automatically through website hosting, security and consent technologies; and through embedded media or optional analytics.

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, assess whether and how we can assist, prepare scopes and quotes, plan and deliver agreed work, maintain business and project records, protect the website, prevent spam, improve the website when analytics is allowed, comply with legal obligations and manage legal claims.

Submitting an enquiry does not automatically add you to a marketing list. We will only send marketing communications where we have the required permission or another lawful basis, and those messages will include a way to unsubscribe.

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to our employees, production team members, contractors and collaborators; website, email, cloud-storage, security, analytics and embedded-media providers; professional advisers; authorities where required or authorised by law; or parties involved in a genuine business restructure subject to appropriate safeguards.

Providers supporting this website or its enquiry system include ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare for hosting and security, Google Workspace, Google Sheets and Apps Script for enquiry processing and storage, Titan Email for communications, Vimeo for embedded video and, only after consent, Google Analytics.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Some providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States or other locations where they or their service providers operate. Those locations may change over time. Where required by applicable law, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate safeguards. Overseas privacy laws may differ from Australian law.

The website uses essential technologies for secure delivery, form operation and remembering your privacy choice. Google Analytics loads only after you select Allow analytics. We do not use advertising personalisation or retargeting pixels at launch.

Vimeo players use the provider’s Do Not Track setting. Vimeo may still receive technical data and use limited technology needed to operate and secure its player. More detail is available in our Cookie and Tracking Notice. You can change your analytics choice through Cookie settings in the footer.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include restricted account access, two-factor authentication, encrypted connections, server-side validation, spam controls and reputable service providers. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Website enquiries that do not become client projects are generally retained for up to 24 months from the date received. They are then deleted or de-identified unless a legitimate legal or business reason requires longer retention.

If an enquiry becomes a project, relevant information may be retained during the relationship and afterwards for accounting, taxation, contractual, insurance, dispute-resolution and other lawful business purposes. Google Analytics event data is configured with a 14-month retention period.

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or request deletion where applicable. We may need to verify your identity. We may retain information or refuse a request where the law permits or requires it, and will explain the reason where lawful and appropriate.

Contact us with enough information to investigate any privacy question or complaint. We will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied and the Privacy Act 1988 applies, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
